Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide artistic and educational opportunities for children and adults across the Iron Range while renovating the historic Lyric Building. The Lyric Center for the Arts is an entity of the Laurentian Arts and Culture Alliance, a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation.
Description
Since our formation in 1998 the vision of the Laurentian Arts and Cultural Alliance, dba, The Lyric Center for the Arts, has been to create a supportive environment and space for the Arts in our Community while also recognising and preserving the rich History of the 1912 Lyric Opera House, now known as The Lyric Center for the Arts. Our organization affirms, the arts are crucial to a healthy, prosperous community and that, access to arts and cultural experiences lifts up the quality of life for both residents and visitors of Virginia and surrounding communities. The Lyric Center for the Arts respects and recognizes that we are here today on the current and ancestral homelands of the Anishinaabe and Dakota people. We acknowledge the forced removal and ongoing colonization of Indigenous people. We actively work to resolve and understand our own part in these acts. We honor and value the arts and culture of Indigenous people.
