Mission Statement

Women Against Mass Incarceration (WAMI) is a grassroots non-profit organization working to support and organize justice-impacted women, girls and families who have been affected by incarceration or trauma. Our reentry work, advocacy and political education aims to elevate, educate, and empower women and girls in efforts to abolish mass incarceration.

Description

Women Against Mass Incarceration emerged out of a pursuit to rebuild our community and a desire for actions to speak louder than words. Established in 2015, we are a grassroots non-profit driven by progressive ideas, bold actions, and a strong foundation of support. We support our community and empower women's lives in a variety of ways and measure our success by the effectiveness of our efforts. Our vision is a world where the current criminal (in)justice system is obsolete and incarceration is no longer an option.
