In 1991, the Frisco Public Library consisted of books donated, collected, and stored in a small building on Main Street that the city paid one dollar to lease for the entire year. This early library consisted of a team of volunteers who checked books in and out, shelved materials, and created Frisco’s first children’s summer reading program.
By 1992, the City of Frisco acquired the Frisco Municipal Complex and part-time librarian Olga J. Rudy, from Collin County Community College joined the team. With an allocation of funds in the city budget, the library began cataloging items, adding new shelving, and began establishing itself as an innovative presence. In 2006, the library moved into the George A. Purefoy Municipal Center where it now resides.
The Frisco Public Library was built from the ground up by a team of dedicated citizens committed to the spirit of literacy and intellectual freedom. That spirit persists to this day, as our library has grown from a fledgling library to a library that leads. Every day, our mission is to inspire intellect, curiosity, and imagination in every visitor that interacts with us, in person and online.
