Mission Statement
Our mission at WHOH Detroit, Whose House Our House, is to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community through traditional and nontraditional sports, as well as to expand our capacity to serve inner-city youth and create a pathway to higher education and careers. We believe that by empowering inner-city youth through community policing, programs, and mentorship we can bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community. We believe that focusing on youth now will result in lower crime rates and higher conviction rates in the future.
Description
Moving forward, we plan to construct a studio, computer lab, and weight room, as well as renovate our gym, game room, and multipurpose room. We are also looking to expand our sports programs to reach out to younger audiences. Nike, Prevention Network, Dick's Sporting Goods, Hamtramck Public Schools, Nonprofit Finance Fund, Skillman Foundation, and other organizations are currently funding us! Currently, 19 graduates from our program play collegiate football, and one plays semi-pro football. For three years, our staff has successfully managed our been there, done that mentor program. On a weekly basis, we serve over 60 inner-city youth.
