Description
School-based mentoring called Mentoring Minutes is an opportunity for adult or youth (17+) volunteers to meet with a child during school hours. The match meets for one hour each week. During that hour, the mentor helps the student with class work for thirty minutes. The remaining thirty minutes is for fun activities which include board games or playground time or free play in the gym or talking. (Mentor Richland County provides board games, puzzles, art supplies, card games, flash cards, educational fun items, etc.) The MentoringMinutes program is offered to children in kindergarten through 6 th grade. (All volunteers have 3 thorough background checks and 2 references completed by our agency before approval as a mentor.)
