Mission Statement
We bridge the gap between audience and artist, so that all feel welcome and are able to experience the arts in a deeper, more meaningful way.
Description
Augustana Arts provides the highest quality music experiences to Metro Denver, directly impacting 7,000-10,000 people each year by presenting an annual Concert Series that began in 1997 and Stratus Chamber Orchestra providing local talent a modern, high-quality creative outlet. I
Formed in 1998, Stratus Chamber Orchestra is leading the classical community in innovative concert performances with its immersive style performances and unexpected collaborations.
Music Encounters was founded in 2002 as City Strings in response to public school budget cuts. Targeting chronically low-income neighborhoods, the program has expanded to include City Drums (2020) and City Strums (2021), serving 130+ children every year. Weekly classes aid in the cognitive development of students and position them for significant academic achievement through fully subsidized lessons but for a modest instrument fee, however, no child is ever turned away for an inability to pay.
Augustana Arts was recently selected to work with Denver Metro Chamber’s Leadership Foundation to launch "ArtiStandza-A Voice for the Arts." This multi-sensory, bi-lingual project presents artist-painted/designed black metal music stands at strategic locations through metro-Denver to bring awareness to the benefits of music in the life of a child.
