Mission Statement

Humanmade is San Francisco's first Advanced Manufacturing Training center that houses the City's most extensive open-access Design, Fabrication, and Prototyping Facility. Our mission is to democratize access to the tools of innovation and empower diverse individuals in our community to become the next generation of inventors, designers, and makers. We aim to create a well trained and qualified workforce to fill the manufacturing jobs of the future. We accomplish this by providing individuals with access to industry leading training and advanced manufacturing tools in tandem with workforce development, public workshops, and public maker space access.

Description

Humanmade is a San Francisco based non-profit that is part makerspace, part advanced manufacturing training center, and part career exposure program for at-risk youth. Tapping into more than 10 years of experience in providing hands-on training and pathways for new businesses in manufacturing throughout the boom of the Maker Movement, Ryan has worked to foster an environment where manufacturing and entrepreneurship is as diverse as the Bay Area itself.

In the last 3 years, Humanmade’s Next Generation Manufacturing Training program has trained more than 100 students who have been placed in full time manufacturing jobs, gone on to further their education, or have started businesses of their own.

In addition, Humanmade’s open access makerspace allows small manufacturing businesses to scale affordably and they are currently using Humanmade’s facility to create world-changing technology.
