ACOMERPR is empowering communities by facilitating access to quality food, incentivizing local economic and agricultural development, and promoting food security throughout Puerto Rico.
ACOMERPR is a grassroots nonprofit that works on structuring public policy, strategic programming and infrastructure to bolster Puerto Rico’s food security. Throughout these last two years of operation we have: distributed over $3MM worth of food, 1500 vaccines to rural communities, 1.1MM units of PPE’s and are currently in the process of building 5 community gardens through marginalized Puerto Rican communities. In the immediate future, we will be constructing urban agriculture systems in abandoned governmental schools, creating a mobile soup kitchen and creating an archipelago-wide database to document food security across Puerto Rico. While we currently collaborate with over 40+community organizations and manage a mesh-network of over 500 volunteers, ACOMERPR initially started as a group of eager volunteers who wanted to help marginalized and emergency-struck communities receive the food they needed to continue their daily life.
