Mission Statement

IslamByTouch is an organization that is dedicated to making Islam accessible and available to the blind community. Our goal is to make Islamic information available to blind people in all blind accessible formats and to remove the stigma of blindness within the Muslim community. We provide services such as the English meanings of the Quran in braille, other Islamic literature in braille and other blind accessible formats, Dawah material in blind accessible formats to non-Muslim blind people, community outreach to Blind Muslims, and hold workshops and seminars to educate the Muslim community on how to interact with blind and disabled people with respect and dignity.

Description

IslamByTouch was founded in 2016 by Nadir and Yadira Thabatah. Nadir is legally blind and Yadira is totally blind. Yadira embraced Islam in 2004, and set out on a mission to learn more about Islam. After rigorous research, she was disappointed to find that there was no information about Islam available in English in the braille format. Over the next 11 years, and the deer and Yadira got married, had children, and they continued their search on finding blind accessible Islamic materials. After coming up short for so many years, Nadir and Yadira decided to take care of the problem by starting Islam by touch. IslamByTouch is the only organization in North America dedicated to making Islam accessible to the blind community. Since March 2016 they have produced over 950 copies of the English meanings of the Quran in braille and distributed them to blind people all around the world at no charge to them. Islam by Touch - PSM in goal is to be Service for all blind people, both Muslim and non-Muslim, to go to be educated about Islam and two remove the misconceptions and stigmas that the Muslim community have on blind and disabled people.
