Illuminating Poe for Everyone, Evermore...
Description
The museum features the life, works and career of Edgar Allan Poe, documenting his accomplishments and focusing on his many years in Richmond. The Museum opened in 1922 in the Old Stone House, Richmond's oldest standing structure, only blocks from the sites of Poe's first Richmond home and his first places of employment. Three buildings have been added to the house the growing Poe collection. The buildings open into a walled garden of evergreens and flowers. This Enchanted Garden, inspired by Poe's poems "To Helen" and "To One in Paradise", has made the museum a green oasis in a busy downtown district. The Poe Museum’s collection is now the most comprehensive in the world and its programs reach thousands of scholars, students, teachers and literary enthusiasts every year.
