Mission Statement
UU Miami is a liberal faith community that encourages spiritual and ethical exploration, education and dialogue; honors human diversity and the inherent worth and dignity of every person; promotes personal and world peace; and protects the natural resources of the world. As a hub of progressive thinkers and doers in Miami, we seek to nurture all families in a multi-faith world.
Description
UU Miami has an over 80-year history of siding with love, not hate. Founded in 1938, we have been at the forefront of social justice movements in Miami, supporting racial equity and civil rights, including those of families and young children; in the 1950s, UU Miami's preschool was the very first racially integrated preschool in Miami-Dade County. Thanks to our longstanding experience standing as an interfaith ally, our community continues to serve families who seek an affirming community that celebrates diversity of expression and thought. UU Miami's vision for change locally is to be that strong, brave, caring community where families who might not fit in elsewhere can come and explore what it is to be human, and to live together with openness, authenticity and compassion for ourselves and others. We seek to offer services to the community's families and children to help them discover who they are, what their potential is, and how they can make the most out
of life. With a combination of programming for youth, parents/caregivers, young adults and elders, we seek to create a community hub of collaboration, learning, exploration and inspiration.
