Mission Statement

To preserve Kansas City’s oldest historic theater as a premier performance venue, we commit to maintain our building’s heritage, diversify our program and entertainment offerings, and be an enthusiastic participant in the continuing revitalization of downtown Kansas City.

Description

The Folly Theater is the oldest continuously-operating theater in Kansas City. It opened in 1900, and after being rescued from the wrecking ball in 1981, the Folly has been the home of many music series, including their own Jazz Series and Americana Series, the Harriman-Jewell Series, the Friends of Chamber Music Series, and the Heartland Men's Chorus of Kansas City, among many others.

In the summer of 2022, the Folly is undergoing a $4.2 million renovation to update the theater's seats, provide new curtains, renovate the mezzanine bar and restrooms, update and improve the dressing and add many additional improvements to improve our patron's experience.

We are looking for ushers to work our shows, beginning in mid-October 2022. We're looking for dedicated volunteers to be part of our grand re-opening as we head into our 122nd year as part of Kansas City's nightlife.
