Miano Academy is an art school dedicated to promoting timeless, classical principles in contemporary art. Miano Academy is a Classical Realism art school, or Atelier, one of less than 100 certified ateliers in the world. We believe in and advocate for the preservation of techniques and principles passed down through generations of lineage since the Renaissance. This advocacy is a rare treasure in the era of digital art and modernism. Miano Academy provides education for artists of all ages and levels and invites a new generation of artists to carry on the legacy of progressive Realism through a series of in-person and workshops, globally recognized online classes and seminars, as well as the Apprenticeship, a full-time guild-style program. As a leader in the Atelier Movement, we are dedicated to the education of the beauty and truth in nature.
Our academic origins come from a long visual arts tradition that began during the Renaissance, and reached a pinnacle in the late 19th Century with the creation of numerous painting ateliers in Paris. Miano Academy is modeled after these original ateliers and is dedicated to promoting timeless, classical principles in contemporary art.
We offer our signature Atelier Apprenticeship, Master Workshops and a variety of Courses. Our visual arts program of direct drawing and painting from life emphasizes the application of old master craftsmanship and the observational study of color and light, as created by the sun’s illumination of nature.
