Description

'BREAKING BARRIERS’ IS OUR THEORY OF CHANGE:Strength Nation’s objective is to remove socio economic barriers that prevent many school-age children from participating in recreational, club, team, school and community sports and fitness activities. We provide access to professional fitness programs, sport development and weightlifting programs AT NO COST. GREAT HUMANS:Our programs empower kids with values that will support their journey to be the best human they can be. Utilizing the elements of fitness, our programs develop qualities like acceptance, encouragement, dedication, trust, teamwork, independence, kindness, self-confidence, empathy, leadership, and determination. INCLUSIVE: The founder of this 501c3, Alison Cosentino, decided to pursue her ASL/English interpreting degree so that she can remove her own communication barrier with the Deaf community. Our Breaking Barriers commitment now includes deaf students and the deaf community of all ages. INTERNSHIPS: Our internship program provides opportunities (incoming and outgoing) to post-secondary students. Exercise Physiology, Sports Sciences, Sports Management, Exercise Science, Business Administration, and Marketing students lead our programs and receive real-world, hands-on experience by working with our community’s underserved youth. The interns experience personal and career growth while serving as role models to youth in our community.
