Mission Statement
The mission of the U.S. Cranberry Marketing Committee (CMC) is to ensure a stable, orderly supply of cranberry product as authorized and provided by the Federal Cranberry Marketing Order (CMO), which is part of the Agricultural Marketing Agreement Act of 1937.
Description
The CMC is an instrumentality of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) that functions as a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization. The CMC was established in 1962 as a quasi-governmental agency under the USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS). In order to fulfill its mission, the CMC works with the USDA to execute global marketing and promotional activities, support or undertake related research initiatives, and may issue volume control regulations when needed and as authorized by the CMO and Congress.
