Mission Statement
The mission of JEMA is to provide the Greater Jacksonville area with a corps of certified volunteer EMS personnel that can be utilized at local emergencies, large-scale emergencies, natural disasters, special events, or any situation deemed necessary. To further this goal JEMA will build relationships with Federal, State, Municipal, and non-profit organizations to carry out this mission JEMA will assist the JFRD with all rescue activities at the discretion of the Director of Fire and Rescue/Fire Chief or his/her delegate. Additionally, JEMA provides an opportunity for practicing and retired health care professionals with an EMT or PMD certification to maintain or advance their knowledge of EMS
Description
The Jacksonville Emergency Medical Auxiliary (JEMA) is a corp of new and experienced EMS providers that serve as additional staffing for the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department's Rescue Division. JEMA is seeking volunteers who hold a current Florida EMT license, or a Florida paramedic license, or who are a Florida licensed physician in a relevant field.
Members are expected to attend two meetings and work three events every six months, in addition to volunteering for at least two rescue rides every two months. JEMA provides training sessions at least once a quarter, and members are required to attend three of four sessions or demonstrate proficiency to the training offer.
Inoculations and TB tests are available to each JEMA member in good standing. EMS re-certification is also available to full and life members in good standing.
