Call Centre Volunteer - Chinese Radiothon

Are you fluent in Chinese and passionate about helping the community? Join SHN Foundation in raising funds for our Scarborough hospitals as a Call Centre Volunteer for the 2025 Chinese Radiothon! ABOUT THE RADIOTHON Scarborough Health Network (SHN) Foundation’s annual Chinese Radiothon has become a signature event within the Chinese community in Scarborough and beyond. Each year, the Chinese community comes together to support the critical healthcare services provided by SHN’s hospitals. Thanks to the incredible support of our community, this annual event has raised over $1.7 million for Scarborough hospitals - Birchmount, Centenary, and General. We are looking for dedicated volunteers to help us in the call centre. DETAILS Date: Friday, April 25th, 2025 Time: Morning (7am-12pm) and afternoon shifts (12-7pm) Location: SHN Foundation office at General Hospital (314-3030 Lawrence Ave E, Scarborough, ON M1P 2T7) Parking: Free (ticketed with validation voucher provided) ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES Answer phone lines from donors (most of which are Chinese, so fluency in Mandarin and/or Cantonese is strongly recommended) Collect information and fill out donation forms Commit to one of the two shifts available BENEFITS Refreshments provided Love, Scarborough t-shirt Certificate of appreciation Hours/references (if needed)If you have any questions, please email us at communitydevelopment@shn.ca. BINGO HALL VOLUNTEER - DOLPHIN GAMING

Did you know that you can raise over $1000 for Scarborough Hospitals with just 2 hours of your time? Join us in this charitable gaming initiative as a Bingo Hall Volunteer! At Scarborough Health Network (SHN) Foundation, we are committed to shaping the future of care by raising funds to improve the quality of hospitals in Scarborough. We have teamed up with Dolphin Gaming as part of their Charitable Gaming program to aid in our fundraising efforts. In return for volunteers assisting them with tasks, a portion of the proceeds from their charity Bingo sessions are granted back to SHN Foundation. Each volunteer helps bring in an average of $1700 per 2 hour session! This is why we need your help. We are looking for long term, committed volunteers to assist with these charity sessions and represent SHN Foundation. Address: 1911 Eglinton Ave E, Scarborough, ON M1L 2L6 (IN-PERSON, CANADA ONLY) About this role: Each session is 2 hours and 15 minutes 2 volunteers must be present Arrive 5-10 minutes early to sign in Follow dress code of collared SHN Foundation shirt and name tag (provided), and dark pants Tidy up (tuck in chairs, wipe down tables and slot machines, discard any trash, return trays, etc.) Walk around and monitor the room Be polite to customers and provide assistance when applicable Requirements: Must be 19 years of age or over Attend in-person Reliable transportation Clear communication with volunteer coordinators (confirmation of attendance, notice of absence, etc.) Completion of online training modules and in-person orientation Ability to stand and walk continuously for the duration of the shift How to succeed in this role and benefits: Be friendly and offer excellent customer service Be timely and follow tasks Tasks are simple and not strenuous Volunteer appreciation (gift cards, events, etc.) You are directly raising money for hospitals in Scarborough, which will make a tremendous impact.
