Mission Statement
To unite, equip, and build capacity for young people to lead in addressing the most pressing health and safety issues affecting them today. NOYS envisions a nation where young people lead the charge in promoting safe and healthy lifestyles for themselves and their communities.
Description
The National Organizations for Youth Safety (NOYS) was originally founded by the Department of Transportation in 1995 as the Traffic Safety Collaboration, and soon after became NOYS as a 501(c)(3) with the mission to build partnerships that will save lives, prevent injuries, and promote safe and healthy lifestyles among all youth while encouraging youth empowerment and leadership. Since its inception, NOYS has grown and expanded from a traffic safety focus to include other safety areas such as injury prevention, substance abuse prevention, and violence prevention. NOYS has convened over 100 federal agencies, industry leaders, and nonprofit organizations that promote youth safety through education, engagement, and empowerment. As a coalition, NOYS has historically reached over 9 million annually. Today, NOYS is leveraging 25+ years of collaborative engagement experience to position young people to lead change.
