The International Women's Resource Center is a non-profit organization based in Los Angeles, California - but also working across the US and Europe. We are looking for volunteers to provide ESL tutoring to our displaced participants. The schedule is flexible and pairs can either meet online. Ideally, volunteers can commit to tutoring at least once per week, for three months. IWRC is a community of learning, support and resources for refugees and immigrants. Our spheres of focus are: Adult Education, Health Literacy, Family Literacy, Workforce Preparation, and Building Community. We look forward to meeting you!

Job Description: As a virtual English tutor for adults, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals seeking to improve their English language proficiency. You will provide one-on-one tutoring sessions via video conferencing platforms to adult learners, tailoring your instruction to meet their specific needs and goals. Your primary responsibilities will include: Conducting virtual English tutoring sessions for adult learners on a regular basis. Assisting learners in improving their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. Providing constructive feedback and guidance to learners to help them progress in their language acquisition journey. Incorporating interactive and engaging teaching techniques to make learning enjoyable. Monitoring learners' progress and adjusting teaching strategies accordingly. Collaborating with other tutors and sharing best practices to enhance the learning experience. Maintaining accurate records of tutoring sessions and learner progress. Qualifications: Native or near-native English proficiency. Previous experience in teaching or tutoring English as a second language to adults is preferred. Strong communication skills and ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual needs. Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping others succeed. Reliable internet connection and access to a computer or laptop with video conferencing capabilities. Ability to commit to a flexible schedule and accommodate learners' availability across different time zones. Proficiency in using online teaching tools and platforms. Volunteer Position: Development Committee Member Position Description: We are seeking passionate and dedicated volunteers to join our Development Committee. As a committee member, you will play a crucial role in helping us raise funds to support our educational programs for refugee women. This volunteer position requires a commitment to attending regular committee meetings, collaborating with other members, and actively participating in fundraising initiatives. Responsibilities: Attend monthly committee meetings to discuss and plan fundraising strategies. Brainstorm and develop creative fundraising ideas tailored to our organization's mission and target audience. Collaborate with other committee members to organize fundraising events, campaigns, and initiatives. Utilize personal and professional networks to secure sponsorships, donations, and partnerships. Research and identify potential grant opportunities for our organization. Assist in writing grant proposals and applications.
