Mission Statement

East End Market (EEM) is a farmer’s market that seeks to increase healthy food access to Anacostia River neighborhoods in Ward 7 and to incubate and promote local entrepreneurs by offering a regular event to feature local businesses and services from neighborhood vendors, businesses, civic associations, and community organizations. Summary The objective of EEM is to bring together neighbors to showcase our collective sense of pride, community, and connection. To achieve this, EEM offers a safe place for neighbors to connect with small businesses, civic associations, nonprofits, and the DC government to gain awareness of local resources that can assist the community.

Description

Our markets include activities for all neighbors. This includes plant giveaways through our partners free grocery giveaways through our partners, along with bounce houses, community workouts, and other engagement events provided by community partners.

As our organization grows, we look forward to partnering with those who can bring pride, engaging activities and support to the residents of the areas that we serve.

East and market is a community incubator tasked with connecting neighbors with small businesses, fresh food resources and engaging activities that increased the sense of pride in Ward seven.

Our monthly market allows neighbors to get to know one another, collect free groceries, buy locally grown vegetables, and learn about resources and organizations that can help grow a stronger community.

During our second event, we hosted a bike workshop that allowed neighbors to fix their bikes while on site at the market. We also posted a neighborhood bike ride the following day. During this bike ride 12 neighbors rode from Capital View area all the to Hyattsville in a slow paced ride that all could attend.

We are currently working with various nonprofits east of the river to create programs and engagements that will keep our neighbors connected with the resources available to them.
