Communications Director Goals/Objectives: ● Increase awareness of Odyssey throughout targeted geographies in Northern California ● Plans type, frequency and audience of communication by providing a marketing plan for each year ● Measures the return on investment on communication channels or events. Charter for Role: Centralized role that implements, monitors and evaluates marketing communication strategies that promote positive exposure of the association or specific geographies. Use promotions and public relations as a way to create general awareness of Odyssey through the Northern California association. Work with all forms of media, including digital campaigns, print materials, social media, and audio and video. They might also be involved with internal association communications. Cross functional interactions: ● Works collaboratively with the Membership/Outreach Director to create content targeted for parents, principals school administrators and PTAs ● Works with the Events coordinator to establish several geographically diverse locations for Odyssey Awareness Nights to provide a condensed version of the Odyssey Experience ● Works in conjunction with Technology Director to utilize the existing technology to its full extent and requests additional solutions if necessary Tasks of the Marketing Communications Leadership role: Strategy ● Create and preserve the association brand identity ● Makes sure all association materials have consistent and positive messaging and branding ● Conducting quality control on all communications ● Identify key conferences or events where our our presence would increase Odyssey awareness in Northern California ● Develop an marketing plan that reflect the timing of the school and PTA calendar as well as the timing of our association events ● Develop successful strategies and campaigns that attract new memberships and keep current memberships ● Exploit parents’ access to school newsletters to create OM awareness ● Use HQ branding and messaging as appropriate for given year Execution ● Maintains the association website including methods to deliver messages, ease of navigation, and clarity of information; ensures that all content is current and relevant. ● Oversees use of social media or other online platforms ● Examines the benefit of with search engine marketing to increase the public’s awareness ● Provides consistent and timely communication to association board and supporting roles ● Assists others by developing and standardized look and feel for presentation and letters ● Provides suggestions concerning graphics, clarity, and distribution for communications from the organization Jobs to be Done (Time_boxed Tasks in support of this position) ● Website design ● Copy editor Content (will be used to facilitate consistent messaging by membership team with members)

We are looking for volunteers to handle the help staff our tournaments for the non-profit Northern California Odyssey of the Mind program. There will be 2 tournaments; one in the Bay Area (potentially Concord) and one in the Sacramento area. The roles would be to works with the Events Director to organize the tournaments including making sure we have the right venue, that there are enough staff/volunteers (working with the Volunteers Director), food for the staff, and overseeing all aspects of the event. The Qualifying Tournaments feed into the State Association Tournament. The Events take place at the end of February (Qualifying Tournaments) and end of March (State Tournament). There are guidelines to help the directors in their job.

The Fundraising Coordinator plays a critical role as a member of the Membership and Outreach team by securing funds for the organization by managing, cultivating, and stewarding relationships. You will be managing a portfolio of existing donors, as well as identifying new major gift prospects, and ensuring that as many donors as possible are retained and upgraded in their giving and engagement. California North Odyssey of the Mind fosters personal integrity, self-respect, cooperation and acceptance of diversity in people, thoughts and beliefs. Participants will be encouraged to use their skills, knowledge and ideas to travel uncharted paths to help make the world a better place in which to live.
Description
The International mission of Odyssey of the Mind is to provide creative problem-solving opportunities for everyone and to foster original and divergent thinking. Through the Odyssey of the Mind program, coaches, parents, judges, and volunteers promote creativity by challenging teams to solve divergent problems, that is, those with more than one solution. While the ultimate goal for most teams is to present their problem solutions in official competitions, this is not a requirement of participation. The purpose of the program is to provide students with an exciting learning experience that promises to be challenging and fun. The primary objectives and purposes :
Implement, sponsor, and regulate the Odyssey of the Mind Program tournaments within northern California in accordance with the guidelines of Odyssey of the Mind Promote creativity and creative problem-solving skills to the youth of northern California
