Valerie's House is the only organization of its kind in Northwest Florida with the sole mission of helping children grieve the loss of a loved one. Our vision is that No Child Will Grieve Alone. Many organizations and grief support groups are available for adults, but childhood grief is different. Losing a parent or sibling as a child is considered to be an Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) and has the potential to misdirect a child's life in harmful ways without proper interventions. Valerie's House is widely regarded as the expert in childhood grief in Southwest Florida and we have recently expanded our services to the Florida Panhandle as well.
Our volunteers serve in a variety of roles and are vital to our success. Some volunteers help with serving dinner to our families on group nights, some serve in an administrative/ outreach capacity, and some lead and co-lead our children's, teens', and adults' groups. Volunteers are well-trained and highly appreciated!
