Women of Honor and Destiny, TLC, Inc. is devoted to eliminating homelessness by providing transitional housing and life-changing programs for women impacted by the criminal justice system.
According to Texas Center for Justice and Equity, Texas ranks first in women's incarceration, with more women confined in Texas than any other state, and 64% of women in the state corrections system are incarcerated for a nonviolent offense, mostly drug possession or delivery.
Women are more vulnerable due to gender, low self-esteem, and loss of dignity and self-worth. It is critically important that system-impacted women have stable housing and a safe place to properly rehabilitate. We provide a safe and stable environment, where women are treated with dignity; a place where their hope is renewed, and they are properly served and rehabilitated. Our gender-specific, trauma-informed programs and services are designed to address the reality of women's needs.
In 2020, we launched our first, successful Christmas community outreach program. I Rise Church, Breaking Chains Making Amends Foundation, and Freedom Granted Initiative partnered with us to donate 3000 toiletry items to 1500 women confined in Plane State Jail.
