Scaffolding Advocacy and Inclusive Leadership, Inc. (SAIL) is a fairly new nonprofit run entirely by volunteers. As we are a predominantly virtual organization, we accept volunteers from anywhere in the world. Currently, we have volunteers and youth participants around the United States of America and Central America! SAIL is looking for people to do social media posts for LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook, in addition to media to be used on SAIL's website. These people would work collaboratively with other volunteers to develop content and schedule posting across platforms. With each of our volunteer listings, it is worth noting that: The amount of time spent volunteering is flexible and can be on your schedule We are happy to work with schools/colleges for volunteering hours documentation, internships, and independent studies If you become a long term volunteer, SAIL requires a background check for volunteers over 18 years of age, as we work with youth and they are involved in all aspects of the organization No previous experience is required, but it is welcome!

Scaffolding Advocacy and Inclusive Leadership, Inc. (SAIL) is a fairly new nonprofit run entirely by volunteers. As part of its youth group, AMPLIFY, SAIL is looking for volunteers passionate about creating podcast content focusing on queer community and youth leadership and self-advocacy. The content created in this space is expected to be released to the general public as well as Gay-Straight Alliances (GSAs) and youth groups as educational tools. AMPLIFY is a Youth-led group (ages 11-22) where youth create and share resources to educate other youth about Queer community, diversity, and leadership! SAIL needs support with Gran Writing, specifically, we are looking for someone to: Find Grants for SAIL to apply to and Support us in writing Grant proposals, The president of SAIL and other volunteers will collaborate with you as much as you would like. giving you content information and ideas connected to SAIL. We are a Fairly new nonprofit still figuring out fundraising and how to best make connections with donors. We are looking for someone to write emails and connect with donors to highlight the work SAIL, and the youth group AMPLIFY is doing. We are happy to support you in learning how to write good fundraising emails and making connections with donors, if you do not know. If you do know we welcome you also!!!! We do some work collaboratively and some on your own. You can set your hours to volunteer and when you need to take time off. We work with volunteers in across the US and some places around the world. We are very intergenerational with volunteers from high school to retirement age.

Mission Statement

The mission of the organization is to use the foundation of AMPLIFY, youth led groups, which focus on mentoring across different ages, in supporting the acquisition of advocacy and leadership skills. AMPLIFY will be the base of ALL advocacy and educational work of the organization, which is designed to create inclusive communities through awareness and understanding, with a specific focus on gender and sexually marginalized individuals and communities. The emphasis on developing leadership and advocacy skills is what separates AMPLIFY from other youth groups. AMPLIFY groups are the foundation of ALL advocacy and educational work of SAIL and are open to all LGBTQIA+ and allied youth ages 11-22. AMPLIFY are youth led groups, which use mentoring across different ages to empower youth in the acquisition and implementation of advocacy and leadership skills through the youth’s own projects.

Description

AMPLIFY groups are the foundation of ALL advocacy and educational work of SAIL and are open to all LGBTQIA+ and allied youth ages 11-22. AMPLIFY are youth led groups, which use mentoring across different ages to empower youth in the acquisition and implementation of advocacy and leadership skills through the youth’s own projects.

Youth have done conference presentations and panels at the local, national and international level, about Mental Health and the LGBTQIA+ Risk Factors, Relationships and Consent, LGBTQIA+ Basics, and Self-Advocacy for Trans youth in Schools. In addition, youth have collaborated with and been presenters for SAIL paid trainings on LGBTQIA+ Basic, and Implicit Social Biases.

Recently, SAIL, in partnership with Side by Side, created the GSA Collective which is designed by and forLBGTQ+ youth and allies , to come together for networking, to share experiences, and learn from others! Meetings cover topics designed to support GSAs’ in growing and thriving, provide connections between GSAs, and a social space for all. Guest GSAs host and speakers are encouraged and welcome!
