Strong Gens is a charitable organization that is run and led by volunteers. We are looking to pioneer innovative and exciting ways for children and young people to learn. What will you be doing? We are looking for a professional with a learning and education experience or background to be part of the Education team to help with the development of our educational offering, improve the learning experience and outcomes of our students. We would like to become a trusted voice in education and deliver programmes that will make a real difference to the lives of displaced students. What are we looking for? The ideal person will be: Passionate about improving the lives of children and young people through education. Experience of working with children and/or young people in an education related environment or informal setting Experience of different learning methodologies and teaching pedagogies Experience with designing, writing and assessing curriculum Experience with developing and implementing learning tools. Proactive and organised. Experienced with managing and building teams. Great communications skills and ability to build relationships. The role is flexible and the time commitment expected is around 3-4 hours a week. Please only apply if have regular time available and are looking to be part of an organisation for the long term. Our charity supports children in and from conflict zones around the world. We are urgently looking for an experienced content writer to work with us as we provide a home, education,and basic human needs for our children. We would like the volunteer to help with: Thinking through our audiences’ information needs and how we can present that effectively Web copywriting: Create engaging content for our website that adheres to SEO and brand Copywriting: Create well-written and compelling copy for use in a brochure, one-pager/fact sheet, or fundraising/promotional materials. Email content: Write compelling email content that is short, relevant and has clear a call-to-action and high click through rates Copyediting: Edit our existing copy for grammar and typos, and to make sure it is consistent with the style and voice of our organisation. Case study writing and storytelling: Help communicate our impact via stories and case studies that we can use on our website, in marketing materials, or in our annual report. Communication materials review: Review our existing communications materials. Recommend edits that will provide us with consistency in writing style and tone, accurate spelling and grammar, and a clear and engaging voice for our organisation. Brochure/annual review writing: Create or update copy for a brochure or our annual review, highlighting our impact current and potential stakeholders. Writing short 200-500 words engaging articles. You will be working with the team who will provide an overview of our existing communication and marketing materials, as well as our content strategy and brand guidelines. You will work together to produce initial concepts for all deliverables, including goals, SEO keywords, target audience, and desired tone and style of writing. What are we looking for? We are looking for a volunteer who has: Strong writing and editing skills Understanding of use of, and ability to write for, different mediums and formats (print copy vs web copy) Experience in copywriting, marketing, public relations, communications or journalism Ability to write with SEO [web writing tasks only] and brand at front of mind using our existing voice and style Accuracy and attention to detail Ability to quickly understand the needs of our team / organisation / users Can ask key questions to enable us to clarify requirements Understands the resource constraints of a small charity and is able to work with these. What will you be doing? Position: Grant Writer Hours: minimum 4 hours per week Location: Remote Volunteering commitment: 3 - 6 months Job description Strong Gens is looking for an experienced, innovative, and outgoing individual with a demonstrable record of consistent grant writing opportunities. The Grant Writer will be responsible for identifying grant opportunities, and managing the grant development and proposal process. Candidates must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, a professional and resourceful attitude, the ability to work both independently and as a team player, and a desire to take initiative and manage numerous projects simultaneously. Responsibilities: Identify and research prospective Trusts, Foundations and other funding sources relevant to Strong Gens’s funding needs. Track and create a calendar of grant opportunities - including deadline dates, required materials, etc. Develop Strong Gen’s Trust and Foundations fundraising strategy to maintain a strong and diverse income pipeline that meets ConnectionHub's funding needs. Develop knowledge of Strong Gens’s projects and stakeholders to ensure that funding approaches are fully reflective of our work and in line with funders’ priorities. Write high quality, persuasive bids that meet funders’ interests and requirements and write any additional documents in support of funding bids. Maintain chart of grant applications: including grants applied to, status of application, grant deadline. Review all bid feedback and ensure knowledge is shared, so that learning informs Strong Gens’s future approach. Identify and write up case studies to inform audiences of the difference Strong Gens makes in communities. What are we looking for? Bachelor's degree Demonstrated experience in obtaining grants from nonprofits, charities, and other philanthropic organisations. Experience of building Trust and Foundation pipelines and excellent knowledge of fundraising information sources. Excellent written skills including an ability to write compelling funding briefs, reports and proposals. Ability to manage rejection and overcome common proposal objections. Well organised, with effective time management and problem solving skills. Strong interpersonal and presentation skills required. Excellent IT skills (proficient in Microsoft/Google packages). As Volunteer Event Manager, you will be organising events in your local community to help raise donations and support for our mission. This could be anything from a themed coffee morning to a fashion show or sports event - the possibilities are endless and we’ll be there to support you with all of the resources and guidance you need to make your ideas come to life. If you have experience in events management or fundraising, and are skilled in planning and managing events from beginning to end we would love to hear from you You’ll be also raising awareness and support to help us together tackle some of the biggest issues facing young people in this country. For this role to be effective, we ask that you are able to commit to the role for a minimum of twelve months and that you raise at least £5000 in this year.
