The Women Veterans Support Services, Inc. (WVSS) began in 2008 as the first and now leading advocate for our nation's women veterans in North Carolina. We provide information to services designed to help unify the community and the ever-growing military family and veteran population. WVSS is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization chartered in North Carolina. WVSS, Inc. has four Programs to assist with the special needs of our nation's finest, Project Red Shoe and Protective Red Shoe, H.E.R. ReDefined, and Ready4Work. In 2008, three women, with "lived-experience" of military SA/DV began WVSS to address this underserved population. There are not many gender-specific programs for her. There is one homeless women veteran shelter in NC (Asheville) dedicated to her, the fastest-growing homeless and jobless population. She is constantly at risk of sexual abuse and a target for human trafficking. We are the frontline to stabilize and assist her with community support. We provide training for other organizations to understand our military and veteran culture better. WVSS specializes in CRISIS Management.
