Avenue941 exists to see a church open in every neighborhood of Manatee County within walking distance of students to support them academically and spiritually.
Avenue941 began with a pilot program working with 12 failing middle school students. We paired them with a church and a team of adults to help them with their academic work and encourage, counsel and mentor them. All 12 passed for the year. We have expanded to three other locations and are working with students from 9 different schools. High schoolers can come get help and then stay to get service hours. Sibling groups have a place to meet after school so families are all in one place. Our churches have chromebooks, wifi, school supplies, snacks and even basketball goals or other opportunities for brain breaks.
