Mission Statement

The Virginia Service Commission, within the Virginia Department of Social Services, is the lead agency for volunteerism and service for the Commonwealth of Virginia. We believe volunteers build strong communities and have a lasting impact on the areas they serve.

Description

In addition to managing Virginia's AmeriCorps State programs, our team provides assistance and resources for organizations and individuals involved in bettering their communities through service and volunteerism. The Virginia Service Commission is guided by the Governor's Advisory Board on Service and Volunteerism, appointed by the Governor of Virginia.

We love connecting Virginians with opportunities to serve in AmeriCorps, the Virginia Volunteer Center Network, and finding ways to engage in the Virginia State Service Plan. Contact us today to find ways to help inspire more Virginians to serve their communities!
