Description

www.camphorizon.net Camp Horizon programs are designed for children who have been abused and neglected. Initiated in 1982, the camp has expanded and now serves children from five counties in the Metro Atlanta area. At the weeklong summer camp for 8 - 11 year olds, each camper is provided with his / her own personal counselor for the week. Through activities such as crafts, swimming, horseback riding, sports, self esteem classes, and campfires, the children are given the opportunity to learn new skills, practice positive interaction and feel the joy of accomplishment. Camp Horizon strives to provide the children with skills to help them overcome the detrimental effects of abuse and neglect. Camp Horizon has added a second program, the Leadership Development Program, for 12 - 18 year olds who have "graduated" from the Summer Camp. This program is a weekend long retreat that focuses on teamwork and service followed by quarterly service projects.
