Mission Statement

The mission of Pawsitive Teams is to enhance the lives of individuals with special needs who live in San Diego County by using the skills of highly-trained service and therapy dogs.

Description

Pawsitive Teams was started by two local women 25 years ago...with one dog. As a volunteer-inspired, volunteer run organization, we accomplish our mission through the compassion, talent and time of over 65 volunteers in our Service and Facility dog training program, Therapy Dog Prep School and Goal-directed Therapy Dog Program, and our education and outreach activities. Our administrative costs are kept to a minimum with only three part-time staff and a wholly owned training center. Pawsitive Teams' volunteer Service and Facility dog trainers work with specially selected pups for the first two years of their lives, training in their homes, workplaces, at our center and around town. Therapy Dog Prep School provides an active curriculum for its popular six-week terms given four times a year for San Diegans who think they may want to volunteer with their dogs. Our unique goal-directed Therapy Dog Programs bring our certified volunteer teams to partner organizations who work together with professionals to use the special talents of the dogs to assist in attaining client goals. Our education and outreach activities include answering myriad emails and phone calls concerning dogs that help us humans, as well as presentations and demonstrations to children and adults alike.
