Mission Statement

Leaf of Life Youth Rising is a nonprofit helping youth turn their dreams into reality! We work directly with underrepresented communities in Northern California & Jamaica to support the development of youths skills, talents & arts.

Description

Current Programs:

  • Heartfullness Project: teaches children social emotional skills in an easy & fun way. The "Problem Solving (made easy) Kits" the Heartfullness Project creates are donated to schools & children in underrepresented communities in the Bay Area.
  • Leaf of Life Youth Rising Center that offers: life skills classes, music & arts classes, athletics classes, a hub to connect youth to community services and more.
  • Help fund the development of St. Issac’s Basic School’s (a preschool in the heart of Kingston, Jamaica) playground. St. Issac’s is in dire need of a safe area for the children to play including: fencing, jungle gym & play ground equipment.
  • Establishing free neighborhood book libraries in Jamaica

About us: "AYA" the Adinkra symbol of endurance & resourcefulness are the symbols included on the Leaf of Life YOUTH RISING logo. They symbolize a fern which is an ancient hardy plant that can grow in difficult places. Reggae artist Leaf of Life, from the ghettos of Kingston Jamaica, knows the importance of having strength & being persistent. They are some of the qualities that helped him survive and go on to thriving so he can return to help the youth and give them the help he never had as a child.
