Poverello House is a place where clients and their furry companions come to have a brief respite from the street. With this in mind, we want to continue to expand our hospitality to ensure our clients' pets are cared for as well. Through this opportunity, volunteers with veterinary experience or those partnered with an animal shelter can come and treat, assess, or vaccinate our clients' pets. Poverello House serves 3,000 meals daily; we need our volunteers to maintain that capacity! We are excited to announce our kitchen remodel has started. For the time being, our meal prep stations will be in the multi-purpose room. Volunteers in Kitchen and Meal Preparation will help us with various taskings. For example, tasks will include dicing onions, fileting chicken, washing fruit, sorting bread, etc. DRESS CODE: pants/ jeans, t-shirt, closed-toes shoes. Welcome to the Poverello House! We could not do the work that we do without the help of volunteers. Together, we enrich the lives of all that pass our way through an abundance of well-rounded services. Volunteers serve as core members of our team by fulfilling tasks in meal services, warehouse operations, clothing drives, marketing, client services, and administrative duties. Every new volunteer is asked to attend an orientation. This opportunity allows the new volunteer to meet the staff, learn about our programs, and tour the volunteer stations throughout the Poverello House. Orientations are held weekly on Wednesdays at 3 pm. An alternative time would be Fridays and Saturdays at 11 am. Time is set aside to ask questions about their student learning agreements, court-ordered hours, and general information about the Poverello House. Clothing Closet Our clothing closet provides a respectful environment for anyone to receive their choice of clothing items. We ensure all items are presentable and sorted accordingly. Volunteers in Clothing Distribution Set-Up will: -Fold Pants -Match shoes and socks -Hang shirts -Sort miscellaneous items -Sweep and tidy up the clothing warehouse -Assist clients in finding clothing items Donation Warehouse Most of the food and supplies at Poverello House come donated. With this in mind, we need the help of our volunteers to sort through the donation lane products.
