Mission Statement
Our mission is to expand affordable housing options, assist older adults to age safely in place, and to decrease social isolation in Butte County by facilitating relationships through home sharing.
Description
Our organization was founded by a social work professor and their student who shared a passion for older adults and wanted more local support for aging in place with dignity and community. We started work in 2018 shortly before the Camp Fire of Northern California devastated the Ridge and made our existing housing crisis much more challenging. We serve our community by matching two groups of people - older adults wanting support to age in place (home providers) with people looking for affordable housing willing to help through custodial care (home seekers). Last year (2021) was our biggest year and we made ten matches ensuring that twenty people are stably housed and cared for by each other and us. Our work is led by social workers and heavity emphasizes case managment for both home seekers and home providers at every step of the way from intake to conflict resolution with matches. This is why 93% of our participants would reccomend us to a family or friend. We are meeting an inreasing demand for our services and working to expand our team and our work in the next couple years.
