Mission Statement

To enhance library resources and services for patrons. To expand library services beyond what tax dollars can provide. To sponsor programs and add to the cultural life of area residents and visitors. To promote community awareness of our library and its programs.

Description

  • Created in 1982, the Friends of the Island Library promotes the Island Branch of the Manatee County Public Library System. The Friends raise funds to augment the library’s budget in order to expand the programs and services available to the public.
  • we recently celebrated our 40th anniversary working with the library by sponsoring a book sale and various events promoting the library to our neighbors.
  • The Friends of the Island Library sponsor the very popular annual Lecture and Travel series that provides speakers who share interesting topics to the community
