The Come C2C program volunteer helps the organization reach its goals by conducting tours and providing educational programs for the general public (children, adults, families). Our volunteers are passionate with a strong interest in social justice, youth development and digital equity for a unique hybrid opportunity to support the administrative, teaching artist staff as well as students of Connected to Culture. Interns must be enthusiastic, cheerful, and willing to learn. They should have an interest in working with people, especially students, and be willing to become actively involved in the programs of the organization. Duties: Complete introductory training with education staff, study selected readings, and shadow other guides on tours to guide knowledge and skills in leading groups. Conduct tours for school groups and other groups by greeting groups and leading interactive tours. Lead regular public tours on select days (including weekends). Help conduct evaluation of the groups and tours. Assist education staff with programs. Assist education staff with exhibition and artist research. Requirements: Passion or post-secondary degree in American Studies, African American Studies, Indigenous Studies, Latin American and Latino Studies, Art History, Studio Art, Cultural Anthropology, Communication, English, History, Journalism/Strategic Media, and Sociology. Dependable and punctual Minimum of 10 to a maximum of 20 hours per week; a mutually agreeable schedule will be determined in conversation with the organization Possible course credit can be negotiated with University departmental supervisor Experience using tablets and mobile for a variety of tasks, particularly photography and videography Competency in Google suite applications including Docs, Sheets, and Gmail A background check is required

Connected to Culture invites upper-level undergraduate and graduate students from diverse backgrounds and with a strong interest in African American culture and digital equity to volunteer with us! The program volunteers supports Each One, Teach One to reach its goals. Each One, Teach One is a cultural exchange program that works with arts and culture leaders to connect school-aged and young adult students with their West African peers virtually to learn new digital tools from industry experts, create joint projects and foster an understanding of new cultures. The goal is to maximize the number iPads and internet access provided to children throughout the Washington DC metro area who need to sign-up for this free program. Our volunteers are passionate with a strong interest in social justice, youth development and tech support for a unique hybrid opportunity to support the administrative, teaching artist staff as well as students of the Each One, Program Duties: Support the management of the program email inboxes. Compile and track a wide range of participant information and project data, supporting data collection and maintaining accuracy and completeness. Develop digital communications for C2C’s website, email, social media and podcast platforms. Participate in weekly all-group meetings/trainings (2 hours per week) and weekly individual check-ins (3 hours of per week) Requirements 3rd or 4th year Interdisciplinary Humanities student (college level) preferred; can include (but is not limited to) majors/minors such as American Studies, African American Studies, Indigenous Studies, Latin American and Latino Studies, Art History, Studio Art, Cultural Anthropology, Communication, English, History, Journalism/Strategic Media, and Sociology.
