Mission Statement

The mission of the Angelman Syndrome Foundation is to advance the awareness and treatment of Angelman syndrome through education and information, research, and support for individuals with Angelman syndrome, their families, and other concerned parties. We exist to give all of them a reason to smile, with the ultimate goal of finding a cure.


The ASF is a national nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with Angelman syndrome and their families through education and information, research and support. The ASF National Walk raises funds for research aimed at finding treatments and a cure for Angelman syndrome, and to provide direct support to individuals with Angelman syndrome and their families or caregivers. The ASF has funded 101 research grants totaling $9.5 million. For more information about the ASF, visit
