Mission Statement

Brooklyn Level Up ("BKLVLUP") is a community development corporation with the vision of building community assets, equitable engagement practices and advocacy for BIPOC residents and small businesses within the East Flatbush, Flatbush, and Flatlands communities of Brooklyn, NY. We also advocate for holistic and thoughtful land use as well as truly affordable housing and commercial space through our community land trust. BKLVLUP maximizes and/or creates access to opportunities and information that spur communal wealth and economic sustainability. Our belief is that the space to build and grow as well as the resources needed to back those dreams has to be hyperlocal and devised in a way that "meets people where they are."

Description

BKLVLUP’s work is to find innovative and collaborative solutions to ongoing community issues utilizing the intersection of art and technology where we can, centered on a community-focused and hyperlocal attention to resolution. These are the values and principles that guide us in our community programming and events such as (1) our Brooklyn Level Up Community Land Trust which has the goal of preserving deeply affordable residential, commercial and community spaces in the neighborhoods of East Flatbush, Flatbush and Flatlands, Brooklyn as well as (2) our Brooklyn Level Up Entrepreneurship Collective which seeks to maximize access to information, funding resources and all around support for the BIPOC small businesses in our community.
