Mission Statement

For The Kids helps children in our own backyard. Every week we deliver bags of food for the kids at Liberty and Backman Elementary to take home over the weekend. Our focus is on involving the community in developing, mentoring, and feeding kids with passion, dedication, and care. Community involvement allows us to succeed in providing volunteer opportunities, fulfilling specific donation needs, and organizing private fundraising opportunities, in addition to our weekly food deliveries.

Description

Our Charity: For The Kids provides meals over the weekend to elementary kids who depend on the federal free lunch program and have little or no food. Every month we deliver food to multiple elementary schools. The meals are simple and kid friendly to prepare.

The Goal: We are committed to filling kids' bodies with food so they can learn and concentrate better throughout the school week, helping them have a better start to a successful life. This program has a direct impact on the community and has contributed to better test scores, improved reading skills, positive behavior, improved health and increased attendance. We have also found that when kids know they are cared about, they feel hope and hope can change a life.

Mentoring and Development: Growing up in low-income communities can be difficult. Throughout the school year we support school counselors to assist in the mentoring program created to help 5th and 6th graders become leaders in their schools. For The Kids also sponsors the Rose Park Panthers mentoring kids through sports.
