Sisters returning home is an organization that provides services to the growing population of women who have recently been released from Philadelphia County Jails or Pennsylvania State Correctional Facilities. Our clients face a unique set of challenges, including homelessness, substance abuse, physical and mental health problems, and a lack of social and familial support. Our programming is designed with these challenges in mind so that we can provide comprehensive support to our clients and their needs. Our services include vocational training, employment, mentorship, advocacy, and family reconciliation programs.
We establish and measure our clients' individualized goals as they relate to financial stability, housing stability, technological proficiency, and self-management skills. We celebrate every success of our clients, whether that be securing gainful employment, building family relationships, or signing the lease to a new apartment. We also celebrate low recidivism rates among our clients who are building their independence through their work in our programs. We believe that our impact lies not only in the changes we make in the lives of our clients, but also in the ways we can impact societal stigma surrounding people with criminal records. By aiding in the successful reentry journey of women in Philadelphia, we are able to help our clients become leading examples of the capabilities and contributions made by reentrants to their respective communities.
