Mission Statement
ORMOND BEACH MAINSTREET ("OBMS") is dedicated to growing and enlivening Ormond’s core business district along Granada Boulevard between A1A and Orchard Street. This award-winning non-profit is a nationally accredited Main Street organization that supports important initiatives for Historic Ormond Beach; brings new events, art, and entertainment into the district; and engages local small businesses. Founded in 1995, OBMS is a strong advocate for, and partner in, our district’s revitalization - supported by members, volunteers and community leaders.
Description
In 1994, four Ormond residents met with the idea of doing something to revitalize a downtown that had been diminished by time and sprawl. A business owner, a school teacher, a retiree and a city planner, they envisioned a hometown to be proud of and saw the potential for business prosperity, architectural renewal and a refurbished infrastructure of parks, streets and cultural enhancements in the City's core. Now, almost 30 years later, the downtown area is still vital to the health and prosperity of Ormond Beach.
Through its actions, Ormond Beach MainStreet has helped to create our four riverfront parks, overseen the redevelopment of Granada Boulevard, the city’s main drag, granted renovation dollars to district businesses, encouraged the creation of off-street parking, launched an Arts District, helped revive our preserve and improve our waterways, contributed tourism, and so much more. Ormond Beach MainStreet organizes four major and multiple other family friendly events in the downtown district each year as well as administrating the weekly Farmers Market at City Hall.
