AccentCare Hospice & Palliative Care of Southern Florida is seeking experienced sewers to make memory teddy bears and pillows to honor families that have lost a loved one. Families select special clothing from their loved one, and our gifted volunteer create beautiful teddy bears and pillows. Bears and pillows are provided to families at no charge thanks to the generosity of Seasons Hospice Foundation. Please consider using your talents to help a family remember their loved one. AccentCare Hospice of Miami is seeking compassionate and caring individuals with certified pets to support our families. Loyal Friends Pet Team volunteers share their dogs unconditional love with patients and families who could benefit from some animal companionship. Pets and their handlers must be certified by Pet Partners or Therapy Dogs International and are required to be up to date on vaccinations. After (human) volunteers have completed orientation and training as a Direct Patient Care Volunteer and pets have a behavioral assessment by the Volunteer Department, they can make visits to patients at home, nursing facilities and our inpatient centers. Vigil Volunteer Program - AccentCare Hospice & Palliative Care of Southern Florida AccentCare Hospice is currently seeking Volunteers to sit bedside with our patients who do not have family or friends during their final hours. This Volunteer opportunity takes place in Assisted Living Centers, Memory Cares, or Nursing Homes. A Vigil Volunteer is an essential part of our NODA (No-one dies alone) program. Volunteers will have a flexible schedule. Typical Vigil visits are 2-4 hours (depending on availability). Vigil volunteers are encouraged to bring a book or quiet activity along on the visit. You will receive training for this special kind of Volunteering. Vigil Volunteers can take on this opportunity after you have Volunteered for 6 months.
