Mission Statement

The Prisoner's Hope ministry in Louisville, KY, works every day to change the trajectory of the incarcerated and those who love them. Partnering with offenders (mentees) and their families prior to, during, and after incarceration, we provide mentoring, counseling, and a roadmap. Immediately upon release, we meet our mentee with the needs that are critical to a successful reintegration back into their community. We work with anyone who asks for our help, regardless of their background or crime(s) they have committed. What many people see as societies' throwaways, we view as individuals who are worthy of grace and redemption. Through our transformative programs and services, we work with mentees and their families, providing critical information, support, and guidance throughout all stages of incarceration.

Description

Our Director, Darryll Davis, committed murder in 1986 and served 22 years in prison. His life was changed and he wrote and taught The Daniel Project to many inmates while serving time. Once released, he created The Prisoner's Hope for the purpose of mentoring men and women and serving their families, as he saw the need first hand.

Since founding TPH in 2013, we have worked side-by-side with over 1,000 mentees and their families and have a success rate of 70%. Statistics notwithstanding, we expect our mentees to not reoffend, stay employed, maintain relationships with their families, regularly attend worship services, and stay engaged with us. These are our success metrics.
