Mission Statement
The Asheville Museum of Science (AMOS) is a nonprofit, interactive science museum serving western North Carolina and offering opportunities for experiential science learning, discovery, and exploration. AMOS strives to spark the imagination and foster lifelong curiosity.
Description
What We Do
AMOS explores the connections between astronomy, geology, weather, climate, ecology, and paleontology through a variety of programs geared toward a broad age range:
- Exhibits and Displays such as Southern Appalachian Forest, Colburn Hall of Minerals, Terra box where visitors manipulate topography, Dinosaur and Paleontology Exhibit, Panorama Screen for Planetary Exploration, STEM Laboratory, and French Broad River Water Table.
- Educational Programs including STEM Workshops such as Robotics and 3-D printing, after-school programming where students build their own interest-based curriculum, in-house field trips for preK - 8th grade, and summer camps that cover the range of STEAM themes.
