Mission Statement
Young Audiences of Western New York is a nonprofit arts education organization whose mission is to inspire, expand learning, and strengthen the community through engagement with the arts.
Description
For 60 years, Young Audiences has developed and delivered education programs in all artistic disciplines-music, dance, theater, literary, visual, and multimedia arts-to more than 3 million children and families in the region. The professional Teaching Artists on our roster engage young people in creative learning opportunities in all 8 counties of WNY, including Erie, Niagara, Orleans, Genesee, Wyoming, Allegany, Cattaraugus, and Chautauqua. Young Audiences is the only provider of arts-in-education programming in all art forms and professional development opportunities focused on arts in education in the region.
Young Audiences programming is distinct because it is based on 60 years of adaptation, innovation, and supports youth learning core curriculum subjects through the arts. Additionally, the organization is an affiliate of the Young Audiences National Network, the nation’s leading and largest arts in education network known for exemplary arts education initiatives, comprising 30 affiliates in 22 states. The Network works collaboratively to advance arts in education through advocacy, communications, program development, evaluation, and professional development. As a result of this affiliation, Young Audiences is at the forefront of arts education in Western New York, pursuing equitable access to the arts through systems change efforts, sharing learned expertise with local educators and artists, and supporting programs and resources for the communities most in need.
