Description

The Melting Pot Music Society is a nonprofit organization that was formed in 2015 and is based in Spartanburg. Our mission is to address social issues through the arts, educational activities, and entertainment. We have partnered with other nonprofit organizations in the state to be a part of initiatives addressing domestic violence, homelessness, food deserts, teen dating violence, and providing job opportunities for at-risk youth. We have assisted 23 families that were impacted by domestic violence with deposits for housing and utilities. This helped them with a fresh start and to get away from their abusers. We have assisted recording artists with developing their craft by providing consulting services, song production and recording, as well as video creation. In this aspect, we have been able to help many artists navigate some of their mental health challenges by providing them safe outlets to express their creativity. On the entertainment front, our very first event was the Melting Pot Music Festival that took place in 2016 at the Mural of Ishmael (in the space where the Farmers’ Table restaurant is currently located). The goal of event was to bring artists of different genres together as well as the community at large in an atmosphere that was safe, energetic, and completely inclusive. We had about 45o00 people for that event, and we have been growing ever since Our biggest Melting Pot Music Festival took place in Morgan Square in 2019, and we had approximately 20,000 festival attendees for that event.
