Responsibilities: Provide Comfort and Companionship: Share the unconditional love and joy that only a furry friend can bring to individuals in hospice care. Create Positive Distractions: Help alleviate stress and provide a welcome distraction by engaging with patients through interactive play and gentle companionship. Support Emotional Well-being: Assist in creating a calming and uplifting environment for patients, families, and hospice staff through the presence of therapy pets. Collaborate with Hospice Team: Work closely with our dedicated hospice care team to coordinate visits and ensure that the pet therapy program aligns with the needs of our patients. Qualifications: Certified Pet Therapy Team: Volunteers should have completed a certified pet therapy program and be registered with a recognized therapy animal organization. Empathy and Sensitivity: Possess a compassionate and understanding nature, with the ability to navigate emotionally sensitive situations. Reliability: Commit to a regular schedule of visits and maintain open communication with the hospice care team. Patience and Flexibility: Understand the unique needs of individuals in hospice care and be adaptable to various situations.
