Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and opportunities to compete to children and adults with intellectual disabilities and their peers without disabilities. Special Olympics is sports and so much more. It is a movement that transforms lives by inspiring inclusion, understanding and respect for people of all abilities, both on the playing field and in communities across the state and around the world.

Description

Special Olympics West Hartford provides year-round sporting activities to over 150 athletes. As one of the largest delegations of Special Olympics Connecticut, volunteers and unified partners are integral to making SOWH a successful program. Are you looking to give back and make a difference in someone's life? Then Special Olympics may be just what you are looking for! No sports experience required. Volunteer and unified partner opportunities for teenagers through older adulthood. These are the sports offered by SOWH:

  • Winter Season (Dec-Mar) Basketball, Floor Hockey, Alpine Skiing
  • Summer Season (Mar-June) Cycling, Track & Field, Swimming
  • Fall Season (June-Sept) Softball, Bocce, Golf, Cornhole
  • Holiday Season (Sept-Nov) Volleyball, Bowling
