Mission Statement
The mission of The Family Room is to increase the likelihood that children living in foster care can be successfully reunited with their birth parents.
Description
A one of its kind program which started in 2014, The Family Room (TFR) offers children and their parents a homelike visitation space within the community and increases both the quantity and quality of supervised time they spend together. Families can spend up to 10 hours per week engaging in a group setting where staff and volunteers support them through engaging in homelike activities, providing a shared meal, hands on parent coaching, and ongoing relationship building. Since its inception, TFR has facilitated over 25,000+ hours of visitation for families across their four locations in the Portland Metro Area. Volunteers are critical in TFR's service provision and there are numerous ways to get involved!
