Member Duties : The Reproductive Health & Gender-Affirming Care VISTA in the Medicaid Office will collaborate with Oregon Health Authority subject matter experts, research national best practices, and learn from community voices to write a policy analysis of current & developing public health policy’s effectiveness on these topics. With strong attention, you will detail where state programs are working well and where there is needed improvement. You will then recommend various policy & program changes to promote access to care for Oregon Health Plan members statewide. Finally, you will lead implementation on one or more recommendations at the discretion of the VISTA supervisor. Member Duties : The AmeriCorps VISTA member will evaluate Oregon’s legislatively funded governmental public health modernization efforts focused on addressing communicable disease response and environmental health threats. 1. Participate in meetings with staff from Oregon Health Authority, Local Health Departments, and Community Based Organizations in Oregon to co-construct evaluation framework, methods and data collection tools, guide analysis, and interpret results. 2. Support the development/ refinement of data collection tools including interview guides, virtual focus group guides, survey instruments, templates for document review, etc. 3. Administer interviews, focus groups, surveys and document review to modernize Oregon’s public health survey systems. 4. Support of a Youth Data Council. 5. Analyze and synthesize data collected with program staff. 6. Develop presentations and reports. 7. With program staff, share evaluation results to a variety of local, state, and national partners. Member Duties : The member will collaborate with FEMA, SAMHSA, and local organizations to enhance behavioral health (BH) counseling outreach services before, during, and after disasters. Duties include: * Develop a BH response plan, contribute to crisis communication strategies, and promote culturally responsive BH support. * Research state plans, strengthen partnerships, and supporting the creation of a GIS resource for disaster response. Member Duties : The member will elevate/amplify community wisdom and experience to policy makers. You will identify, support and engage community-based partners (CBOs) who work on public health priorities and Oregon’s State Health Improvement Plan (SHIP) from the Office of the State Public Health Director. The member will: 1) Support communications for OHA and CBO partners 2) engage with partners to identify and provide culturally appropriate technical assistance for CBOs and LPHAs. 3) Collaborate with staff to build cross-sector partnerships and build internal knowledge. 4) facilitate and evaluate trainings and community health education for community partners. The member must demonstrate commitment to anti-racist practices and health equity. They must be comfortable connecting with new people and identifying opportunities for change. You will work closely with the team leading implementation of PHD’s work in health improvement, public health modernization and equity. La misión de Familias en Acción (Familias) es Fortalecer la salud y el bienestar de las familias y comunidades latinas en Oregón. While service provision is at the core of Familias en Acción services, we also engage in system-wide initiatives that address the root causes of health disparities, includinsg poverty. We aim to change the structure that perpetuates poverty through our health education program that trains community leaders, so they can become certified Community Health Workers and gain employment. The VISTA member will participant in the development of organizational infrastructure that will support the scale and expansion of CHWs in Oregon through a 90-hour CHW certification curriculum. This in turn will create workforce economic stability and drive the social change needed to influence the health and wellness of Latino/x/e populations in our state. The VISTA member will be fully integrated into Familias team of 20-25 staff and will attend any relevant professional development opportunities. The ideal VISTA member will be bilingual in Spanish and English and will self-identify a member of the Latinx community. Some hours in person and some hours remote with in-person supervision and support regularly available.
