Description We are currently seeking individuals and students to join our team as a volunteer in the Buttermilk and Bear Slides on River Road. As a volunteer, you will play a crucial role in preserving and maintaining the natural beauty of the trails by picking up litter and assisting in planting activities. Buttermilk and Bear Slides is a picturesque area known for its diverse wildlife and stunning views. As a Trail Steward, you will have the opportunity to work in an environment that celebrates nature and supports sustainable practices. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about the outdoors and wants to make a positive impact on their community. Responsibilities · Clearing and maintaining trails by removing garbage. · Assisting in planting native species along the trails · Conducting regular inspections of littering and reporting any trail hazards or maintenance needs Requirements · No Skills or experience required. · Volunteers will be provided with free supplies · Volunteers are covered under workers compensation

Mission Statement
The Morgan Duke Conservation Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting forests and water bodies from threats, such as people walking off the trails and damaging vegetation and impacts of throwing litter on the trails, hiding litter in the vegetation. Our team works tirelessly to educate the public on the importance of proper waste disposal to prevent wildlife habitat damage and harming wildlife like threatening species and preserve natural habitats for wildlife. From Orange County to Putnam County to Ulster County and other areas, our volunteer's hike through forested areas, Wildlife Management Areas, and waterways to clean up litter, report damaged vegetation, assess trail conditions, and even plant trees to restore destroyed habitats. We collaborate with state and local conservation agencies to develop and implement innovative solutions that safeguard these precious natural areas and the wildlife that call them home.
